When we were apartment hunting, I wanted to find at least a 2 bedroom, possibly a 3. However, we ended up in a 1 bedroom with a den. The high ceilings and private entrance were just too good to pass up on the apartment that we got. Which meant that I needed to figure out how I was going to turn this den into an office/storage space/closet. Because I honestly had no idea where to even begin with decorating my office, I recruited Jen of Texturious Designs to come in and help me plan out the space. I had a…

Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs
As we were celebrating Memorial Day weekend, I shared the Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs that I was making to take to a backyard BBQ on Instagram stories. I had so many messages asking for the recipe of this super quick and delicious dessert that I knew I needed to share it! It really is the perfect dessert for the summer and there are no plates or silverware required! (Win!) And if you are really pressed for time, you can just buy white cake or shortcake already prepared from the store. I chose to make ours because it only has a few…
My Daily Makeup Routine
One question that I get asked all the time on Instagram is what I use for my daily make-up routine. Because so many of you were interested, I figured it was time to share! Now, full disclosure, I am no make-up artist! I feel like there are things I can do well, and other things that I totally suck at. One of the things that was super hard for me was filling in my eyebrows. I couldn’t do it right so I ended up getting my eyebrows micro-bladed (check that out here). It was the best decision ever! Now, on…
Creating Paws-abilities for Charlie and Leo
Charlie and Leo are my side-kicks, assistants, office buddies and ultimate cuddlers. Manuel and I revolve our world around them – and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Since they both bring so much joy and happiness to our lives, I always try to make sure that they are getting the very best care paws-sible. One way we do that is to make sure that they get regular check-ups at the vet. After moving to downtown Des Moines, we did a lot of research on veterinary clinics. *This post is sponsored by the American Animal Hospital Association, however, all…
One Day in Los Angeles
Location: Los Angeles Where I stayed: Freehand Los Angeles When: April 25th – 28th Favorite Activity: Rodeo Drive Favorite Place to Eat: Bottega Louie Would I go back: It was fun, but I don’t think I need to go back. I recently traveled solo to Los Angeles for a conference. I decided that I would go a day early so that I could explore the massive city of Los Angeles in one day. It was a lofty goal, and I don’t think it would have been something that I could have tackled on my own. Which is why I decided…
Decorating our Dining Room
When we first moved downtown, I was mostly nervous that everything wouldn’t fit. We were certainly downgrading in size and I didn’t want to make a small space feel cramped. Luckily, our dining room area easily came together with a lot of the pieces that we already had! It was the perfect long and narrow space for our repurposed picnic table. This piece is probably my favorite in the space. I found it, with my Mom and Sister, at a Habitat for Humanity store. It was simply a picnic table that they convinced me would look really cool as a…
