After moving back to the States from Germany, Manuel and I both struggled with staying healthy. We were no longer walking everywhere, fast food was at every corner and with all the hustle and bustle of moving we quickly gained weight. I knew that I needed to do something active but I had been struggling with back pain and I couldn’t find the motivation. We joined a local gym together (which was a spur of the moment purchase) and in three months I think we went a combined 5 times. Which wasn’t doing us any good. I had a hard…

Visiting Savannah, Georgia
Our next stop on our road trip was Savannah, Georgia. In case you are just tuning in, you can find our entire road trip plan here. Location: Savannah, Georgia Where we stayed: Iris Garden Inn booked through this site. When: September 3rd-5th Favorite Meal: Treylor Park Favorite Activity: American Prohibition Museum and Speakeasy Bar Would I go back: I honestly preferred Charleston and I don’t think I need to go back to Savannah We arrived here around 8pm amongst rain and darkness, and we were starving! Des Moines Fashion Week
For four days at the beginning of October, Des Moines hosted an event that made the city seem like New York. Des Moines Fashion week featured amazing designers (both local and national), gorgeous venues and amazing food. I was lucky enough to be apart of the week as a guest and trust me, it didn’t disappoint. The first night was held at Mercedes Benz of Des Moines in their brand new showroom. The space screamed street style, with a backdrop of the latest and greatest car lineup – which was showcased by the three designers of the night. I loved…
One Day in Atlanta Georgia
Arriving in Atlanta was a little intense. The interstate coming into the city is like 8 lanes on each side – making one of the widest roads I have ever experienced. Location: Atlanta, Georgia Where we stayed: Omni Hotel at CNN Center When: September 2nd – 3rd Favorite Meal: Prime Meridian Favorite Activity: Coca-Cola World Would I go back: Yes! I would love to have more time to explore the city! This was the one hotel on our trip that we decided to stay in the heart of downtown at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center. (Mainly because I got a…
Visiting Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, TN
The next stop on our trip was a quick one! When we were going over the route we were going to take, we realized that we would be really close to Lynchburg and so we figured it was now or never to get to see the area and Jack Daniels Distillery. However, it is also possible to take a day trip to Lynchburg while staying in Nashville, so even if you aren’t on a road trip like us, it is still easy to fit Lynchburg in your travel plans. Driving from Nashville into Lynchburg was really beautiful and it was…
Visiting Belle Meade Plantation – Nashville, TN
Since I had been to Nashville before, we wanted to do something that I hadn’t done. When I came across Bella Meade Plantation, I was super excited. Not only did it seem rich in history and have gorgeous architecture, they also had huge ties to Thoroughbred breeding (and I love anything to do with horses!) Which made it the perfect next stop on our road trip! We booked tickets in advance for the tour so that we would be sure to get the very first tour spot of the day. It was really easy to book them online in advance,…
